Janus silver grey lim. edition glass head sculpture by Bertill Vallien
The name Janus comes from a god in Roman mythology, a face that looks back into the past and one that looks into the future. In mythology, Janus was the god responsible for dawn and dusk. For Bertil, who has always tried to capture light in his glass, this dual nature has become a character that he revisits time and again, searching for a conversation. The powerful contrast between raw and cut glass gives the sculpture its special magic.
